Christopher John "Kit" Ashworth

[written by his brother Brent Ashworth]

It is with tender heart I mention the passing of our youngest brother Christopher John "Kit" Ashworth last evening at the Alpine Critical Care facility in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Kit was 58, and had been born with mental challenges, including epilepsy, many of which he overcame to the point that he served a faithful two year mission to Coventry, England in the early 1980s, and later married his dear Barbara and they became the parents of two wonderful young men, Jeremy and Brian and the grandparents of three beautiful grandchildren.

Kit faced his heavy life long physical and mental challenges with courage and a keen sense of humor, which we became fond of and appreciated.

He is pictured here as the young brother I am holding in 1961, along with my dear sister Anne who was the closest growing up with him and always his protector and best friend, along with my equally wonderful younger brother Mark.

I have also added a bit older photo with mom holding Kit and a picture of our parents, Dell and Bette Ashworth, taken on mom's 49th birthday, the day after she learned she had terminal cancer in 1976. I know they and our son Sammy who Kit also dearly loves, were there to greet him!

In my own life, it was my little brother Kit, then 8 years old, who first suggested in a note that I take his Sunday School teacher, Charlene Mills from Tempe, Arizona out on a date when I returned from basic training in the U.S. Army at Ft. Ord, California in 1969. The rest is family history!

We all love you, brother. It's hard to say so long, even for a short time.

Loved Kit's sense of humor and infectious laugh.  Kit was part of my whole growing-up experience from elementary school through high school.  Sad to have lost touch with him, although it was great to see him at our 30th reunion.  We'll miss you Kit!
