After high school, I went to BYU for my Elementary Ed./ Early Childhood Ed. Major. I minored in Sociology. While I was there, I had a blast taking voice/singing classes and drama classes too. It was out of my comfort zone but I have great memories of these times.
I taught kindergarten for 11 years, 4th grade for 4 years. I was Assistant Principal as a teacher on administrative assignment for 4 years. I taught 1 year as a Literacy/Math Specialist in 1st/2nd grade. I have now taught 6th grade for 3 years.
(Wow. I guess that is how I get variety in teaching. I move around the grades just enough to spice it up.)
My marriage ended in '96, after 12 years, but I have a beautiful daughter, Magan, who is almost 22.
That's me in a nutshell.
(sounds boring as I read it again but, it really hasn't been, at all.)
I remember Drivers' Ed. at PHS with Shirley Headman. We walked to the "Trade Tech" to use the simulators. Shirley was merrily skipping across the street when I grabbed her and pulled her back just in time for a zooming car to whiz by just inches from hitting her. Shirley, you still owe me :)
While waiting to practice driving on the "range" we had to get clearance to drive. We turned the radio dial to the station so we could hear the teacher give the "go ahead." I remember waiting for Gary Moon to find the station. The instructor kept saying, "Gray Moon, when you are ready to go honk your horn...Gary Moon, when you are ready to go, honk your horn...Gary Moon, when you're ready to go honk your horn...."
I remember being an aide in the foods class, we had a blast burning (I mean making) brownies after hours when we were supposed to be cleaning up...
Ahh...good times...
